WHAT DOES AN ASBESTOS SURVEY REPORT INCLUDE?
WHAT DOES AN ASBESTOS SURVEY REPORT INCLUDE?
It is essential to know exactly what you are getting when you commission an Asbestos Survey Report. All survey reports are not equal. The survey type and scope can alter the legitimacy of a report and the findings. In short you need to ensure you have the correct survey type and that this covers the scope/remit area you require. This can range from a simple management survey to a complex mixture of survey types including demolition over multiple structures on a site. Your chosen survey company should always confirm both the scope of the proposed survey and remit area before providing a cost for the asbestos survey to be undertaken.
Asbestos surveys are designed to identify asbestos within a given area. The report structure and layout can vary by company and report template type but they should follow the recommendations in HSG-264 - The Survey Guide. The report that you receive at the end of your survey should contain a number of pieces of important information, set out in a way that is easy to understand. In the report, you should find:
A summary of the survey
Site details and methodology of the survey
The main findings and the scope of the survey
The Asbestos Register
No Access areas and reasoning
Overall recommendations and conclusions
Site plans showing sample locations and extents
Any further actions required
Glossary of terms
The name of the UKAS-accredited laboratory carrying out the analysis of samples along with a bulk analysis certificate
References and appendix
Accreditations and relevant numbers if held (specifically UKAS - ISO-17020)
